The difference a year makes
We often talk about the immediate impact of getting beds to children: the comfort and security of that first night in a bed, the immediate relief for parents as we provide a tangible solution, the excitement and pride children feel when they have a bed to call their own.
But what about the longer term impact? What difference does starting the school year with the chance for proper sleep make?
We caught up with Jaye, a year on from receiving a bed from Zarach. His teacher, Miss Craven told us:
“We’re at that point in the year where we’re sending out our end of year reports, and reading Jaye’s is like reading that of a different child than the one we knew last year. It took a little while for him to build up his confidence, but he’s usually the one with his hand up to answer my questions, and was our ‘star of the week’ last month!”

How We Work
Referrals
From Schools or Carers
We receive referrals through our through our network of local schools.
A short referral form is sent via email that will include permission from the parent/guardian.
Deliveries
Directly to Families
We support by lifting children out of bed poverty. This involves providing them with a range of the following products: bed frames, mattresses, pillows, duvets, bed clothing, and pyjamas.
Family
Engagement
Our team assesses the best ways to support families further. As a friendly-face, we can mediate between families and other support services, as well as making referrals.
Remain
In Touch
We then remain in touch with the schools to ensure that our beneficiaries receive all of the support they need.

What is included in a bed bundle?
Each bundle includes a bed, mattress, pillow, duvet, and bedding essentials to create a warm, comfortable sleeping space for a child.
Can I donate specific items instead of money?
With our network of suppliers we can buy beds, bedding and supporting items such as PJ’s in bulk at a discount price. So when you make a monetary donation we can make it go much further and reach more children.
Can I donate a used bed or mattress?
We are unable to accept donated beds or mattresses. Our priority is to provide families with consistent, safe, and high-quality sleeping arrangements. To ensure the best for the children, we kindly ask for donations that help us provide new beds and mattresses to those in need. Thank you for your understanding and support.
